So the newest Dresden Files book recently came out, Cold Days, and I just tore through it like I do all Dresden books really. I love this book series, it really is fraking awesome. So I thought I might take some time to talk about why I love Dresden Files, and why you should too.

Pendragon Costumes is an online custom costume company that I’ve seen around for quite a few years now. They make a lot of Steampunk, Ren Faire, and Scifi costumes. Being who I am, I’ve always been particularly drawn to the Scifi costumes. They make quite a bit from the show Farscape, and I think they’re the best I’ve ever seen.

Here’s the fun part! I love putting together a new PC. Nothing like getting in there, putting all the pieces together. Now that I think about it, it kinda reminds me of putting LEGOs together when I was a kid.
Every so often I go over to Newegg.com and put together a new wishlist for a PC to build. I like picking out all the parts and finding what kind of machine I can get if I could afford the bloody thing. I’d gotten the building bug again lately, and this time I had the money I needed so decided to go ahead and build this new one.

Recently I had decided that my old 720p DLP was looking a bit long in the tooth, and started looking to replace it. Much time has been spent on avsforum.com, doing research reading opinions and such. I quickly took to Plasmas as a preferred display tech over LCD. I’ve always heard that Plasma has superior color accuracy and picture quality. While I understand that the top end LCD’s can match them, with my fairly dark living room, and limited funds I focused my search on to the Plasma side of things. I’ve also always tended to stick with Samsung for my displays, for one reason or another. I’ve never seemed to have an issue with them, so why mess with a good thing. Their Plasmas have also been getting good reviews and buzz lately.
In the end, the decision came down to two models, the PN59D550, and the PN51D7000, which were the same price. From what I could tell, the 7000 has the Samsung apps, and a Real Black Filter as the main differences over the 550. Apps is something I just don’t care about, I’ve got that functionality from my PS3 and PC, so it just wasn’t worth it, plus I wanted that extra screen space on the 550. So I am now the proud owner of a 59″ Samsung Plasma.

We’ve been watching Lord of the Rings again lately. Every time we do, Lynn and I tend to get a bit obsessive about it. We both start wanting to play every LOTR game, I start spending lots of time flipping through the wiki, and of course, we always look through all the prop replica merchandise sites.
This time though, I’ve decided it’s time to do something about our obsession. I’m going to be purchasing two rings, one for each of us. No, not that ring, that would be too obvious for me. I want to pick up a Ring of Barahir (Aragorn’s ring) for myself, and an Nenya, Ring of Adamant for Lynn.
