Guardian 452
To Mend and Defend
Any one who knows me quickly learns I am a huge fan of the 90s CGI cartoon ReBoot. I own the entire series on DVD, I have all kinds of figures, attire, books, posters, and even a board game. I first discovered it way back when it first aired, and loved it immediately. Yet it wasn’t until just today that I learned significance of Bobs Guardian number, 452.
It all started when I was watching “The Thing” with my boyfriend, and noticed the number 452 on a helicopter. My brain likes to make connections to other things, so I immediately thought of our beloved Guardian. That’s when it hit me, there are so many references in ReBoot, 452 had to mean something. But what?
I went immediately to The Google and discovered … Nothing.
Since the all powerful Google had failed me in my quest for this particular info, I knew what my next step had to be… Ask about it in the ReBoot Revival Facebook group I belong to. It didn’t take long before one of my fellow ReBoot fans had an answer, though he wasn’t sure it was the right one. He linked a YouTube video, something I had never seen before, and the answer was very clear…
It’s a clip from a 60s BBC children’s series called Camberwick Green, and as you can see the officer is 452. Shortly after he posted that, Gavin Blair, one of the creators of ReBoot, confirmed this was in fact the reason behind Bob being Guardian “452”. In all these years Gavin had never revealed that detail, and had been waiting for someone to understand the reference.
So now we finally have our answer! I love that after all this time I can still learn something new about ReBoot.
