Geek Home Decor: Basement Gaming Room

A basement gaming room is the perfect place for your geek activities.

Geek Home Decor: Basement Gaming Room

This month’s Geek Home Decor is about transforming your basement into a gaming room! Don’t let your dungeon…err…basement go to waste for boring activities, change it into a gaming room! If we had a basement this is what we would do.

Decorations:

minecraft_wall_torch

I think Minecraft torches, and maybe a few light up >Minecraft redstone ore, would make the perfect lighting for a basement gaming room. Another idea for a light source would be the Pac-Man Multi-Color Ghost Lamp.

Get a Pixel Time wall clock, and maybe get floating shelves for the walls so you can display some figures.

Plaster the walls with a bunch of posters from your favorite games. Like Mass Effect 3Battlefield 3, and Arkham City (to name a few).

Make your basement gameroom cozy with a Pac-Man Fleece Blanket, and a Minecraft Creeper plush. Just look at that adorable Creeper wanting to be hugged…

Furniture:

You’re going to need a gaming desk for PC games, and TV stand with storage, for console games. Of course you’ll need a computer chair, and other seating, like a futon. Another useful addition would be a storage bench, that doubles as a table. In front of the futon I was hoping to add some awesome gamer themed area rug, but had trouble finding any that were still actually being sold, (If I lived in the UK, I would get the Space Invaders one). Maybe I didn’t look hard enough, I’m not sure, but I decided to see what I could find in ‘normal’ rugs, and I found one that kind of reminded me of pixels.

Let’s not forget about a place to play some tabletop games, add fold away tables and chairs, and some shelves to store the games on. If not playing tabletop games this can be used as a break area to chow down on some pizza.

Finishing Touches:

An area for snacks and beverages is essential, simply get a utility table and a small fridge. And somewhere in your basement you probably have a normal looking light switch plate, change that out for a Power-Up Arcade Light Switch Plate. Now the Basement Gaming room is complete!
